Project Management & Implementation :

  • Preparation of the PFR, FR & DPR, Preparation of bidding documents on the basis of FIDIC/ World Bank Conditions of Contract/ IBRD / best Industry Separate Sample bidding documents for Procurement of Works, Procurement of Supplies & Procurement of Services. Service Contracts have normally been prepared on QCBS basis.
  • Execution of Over-ground & Underground civil works/ Dams, Power House caverns, Transformer hall, Surge shafts, Desilting chambers, Tunnels, Chute & Shaft spillways, Greenfield approach road in Vertical terrain & Sinking zone, Portal & TBM launching , Adits, Borrow areas etc.
  • Assessment of the market scenario & the Financial Budget available for implementing the supply contracts have usually been invited with financial packages of Buyer’s credit or Supplier’s credit. Risk register prepared for allocation of risks to various stake holders for smooth contract implementation & execution of works. GBR- Geological Baseline Report provided to prospective bidders.
  • Bids Tenders on the basis of Item rate / EPC / BOT/ DBFOT/ PPP mode both for standalone Project Completion and Concession agreements of 20 years. Techno Commercial evaluation of Works, Supply & QCBS Service Tenders.
  •  Project schedules, Budgets, and Resource allocation.
  •  Project Progress through periodic weekly / monthly PERT / PrimaVera.
  • Ensured technical compliance of projects. Ensured projects are delivered within agreed timelines, budget, and quality.
  • Collaborated with external international suppliers/ consultants for techno-commercial negotiations/ discussions, changes required in the tender/ contract documents, cost estimates, including billing, variation/ change order/ deviation proposals, claims and so.
  • Participated in Arbitration and DRB Panels. Constitution of Arbitral Tribunals. Preparation of SOC & SOD. Finalization & signing of LSA with Law Firms . Briefing the Sr Legal Counsels & Attending the Court hearings in Hon’ble High Court & Supreme Court of India.
  • Ensured Corporate Governance & adherence to Corporate Business Ethics, Coordination & expediting.

Technical Design and Development:

  • Technical design Coordination & approvals. Collaborated with cross-functional teams to develop Hydro power projects pumped, Hydro energy storage, Solar & Wind system designs, including Pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, site assessments, site selection, and energy production estimates including financial analysis, IRR, sensitivity analysis & tariff preparation / vetting & finalization of DPR .

  • Reviewed and approved technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.

  • Closely followed with RE industry trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies related to Hydro, Solar and wind energy.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaised with Ministry, SECI, MOP, MNRE, CEA, CWC, GSI, MOEF , DISCOMS, C&I Industry, clients, Contractors, suppliers, and CERC/SERC/ regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with Project requirements and relevant Statutory Clearances from CEA,CWC, GSI, & obtaining the Environment & Forest Clearances from Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India. Responsible for regulatory & Policy advocacy.
  • Liaise & coordinate with C&I & Discoms etc for signing of the PPAs & PSAs (Power Purchase & Power Sales Agreements)

  • Many innovative solutions rendered & implemented at site during execution of underground civil works, Audits approach road to Dam site, HRT, TRT, Earth & Rockfill dam, Public hearing etc.
  • Led from front & Achieved the procurement & delivery of Microsilica for 2400 MW Tehri Hydro & Pump Storage Shaft Spillways , with fully compliant quality assurance from SGS & BV from Jabel Ali Port.
  • Showed Innovation in Dubai Resolution of the Contractual Commercial dispute for multi-billion dollar Tehri Hydro Electric Project with International Consortium of Suppliers & Erection Specialists at Moscow / Germany which has become a Case study to leading professional

Significant Accomplishments & Highlights

  • Associated from Concept 2 Commissioning with the World famous Multipurpose 1000 MW Tehri Dam (260.5 m height- highest Earth & Rockfill Dam in Asia) which supplies Peaking Power to 9 states of Northern India, 2.65 lac hectare Irrigation water to UP and Drinking water to 40 lac Population in Delhi. Worked under Tough Himalayan Geology & conditions , both at Site & Corporate office.
  •  Associated with World famous Tehri Dam & HPP in Project Planning, award of various contract packages on ICB, DCB mode with financing , clearances & execution etc right from beginning.
  • Involved in the implementation of Tehri Pump Storage Hydro Project -1000 MW.
  • Involved in the implementation of Koteshwar Dam project- 400 MW. Declared best Construction Project category among 70+ submissions from all sectors under the category.
  • Played a key role in resolving the commercial dispute by the high level committee of Govt. of India (Ministry of Power) with the Consortium of Suppliers at Moscow Russia resulting in deployment of experts, resumption of generating plant supplies / Rotor laminations to site & timely commissioning of the Nationally important TEHRI DAM.
  • After the Tragic incident at Tehri in which 35 people died , Procured urgently, Microsilica (specialized concrete item) from Dubai, with 3rd Party Quality Inspection of SGS South Africa, for spillways at Tehri resulting in men & machinery savings.
  • Created an Innovative Model for Pvt Land Acquisition on long term lease basis ,1st time in UP/ India. This model has been adopted in the Solar Policy 2022 of Govt .
  • Coordinated with Secretary Power GOI and at the CS level at Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand for bagging the Kishau Dam 600 Instrumental in the cabinet decision for 90% irrigation component funding by GOI across India.
  • Protracted negotiations with the Consortium of International Suppliers resulting in huge savings from Arbitration Costs and invocation of Sovereign Guarantee of the Govt. of India, with timely commissioning of the Tehri Dam.
  • Business development Visit to Nepal / Bhutan & held discussions at the highest level with help from the IndianEmbassy to get the Major Hydro Electric Projects- 900 MW upper Tamakosi, 600 MW Bunakha and 4000 MW Sankosh HEP.
  • Completed & obtained TEC of 444 VPHEP from Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Govt. of India in record time – within 4 months.
  • Completed & Commissioned the Land reclamation , Water supply & irrigation Project in Middle East in record time of 4.5 years by working in 3 shifts 24X7 and thus saving the face of Organization / India in tough situations.
  • Citation issued by Commander Army, 21 BRTF (GREF) for successfully completing the Approach Road to Dam site in Tough & vertical hilly terrain. Underground Works at Audits, HRT, TRT& Cofferdam for river diversion works, TBM.
  • Proposal for 500 MW floating Solar in Bundelkhand UP.
  • International BD & Strategy – 2500 MW in Bhutan & 3000 MW in nepal.
  • Headed 2000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Parks in UP – PPA, Grid Connectivity finalized at 765/400KV ORAI CTU/ STU. My innovative Land acquisition model adopted in Solar/ RE policy of Group. 600 MW Jhansi Solar Park inaugurated by Hon’ble PM.
  • Headed 10,000 MW UMREPP Solar Park in Rajasthan- got allotted & MOU/JV formed. biggest in India in shortest time of 2.5 months amongst all Pvt. & Govt, organizations , involving an investment of around US $ 5 Billion.

  • Involved in the Forest Land/ Revenue land/ Private land Acquisition proposals for VPHEP-444 MW, JT HEP -108 MW, KSTPP-1320 MW , 2X600 MW UMREPPs in UP.

  • International Experience in Middle east for 4.5 years for Implementation of Water Supply / Irrigation & Land reclamation, Road Construction Projects in record time of 4.5 year using state of the Art Heavy Earth moving equipment of makes viz Elba, Schwing, Hitachi excavators , JCB , Kawasaki loaders, Gomaco USA LASER GUIDED road pavers, Komatsu dozer, Laser controlled Slip Form lining of Holland drain make, Tadano Cranes, Dynapac compactors, Derrupe, MAN, Mercedez, Volvo dumpers WABCOS HAULPACKS , MAN DUMPERS etc. Interacted closely with the German engineering Consultant.
